Pitch it or Paint it!
Sorry there's no "Before" photo. I really have to remember to do that. I've been looking at these hurricanes (there are two of them) ever since I inherited them from my parents. They were a Christmas gift from me to my folks almost 40 years ago when pewter was the metal everybody wanted - a few years before everyone had to have a flock of ducks in their kitchens. The hurricanes sit on a shelf in my living room that needs some accent pieces with a little height. That said, I was getting really tired of these two. The glass was embossed with circles and lines and simple leaves. I painted the pewter with Americana enamel craft paint (for a glossy finish) and lightly highlighted the circles and leaves with gold, metallic gold, red, white and two shades of green for the leaves. The black and white check wired ribbon is a nod to the MacKenzie-Childs style that is too pricey for me to own even a pinch of it. I'm happy to covet just a pinch ...
I'm happy to participate in Stephanie Lynn's Showcase Party!
